[My PETS] My Freshwater Fish Tank [PT-1]

Here is my 56-gallon column aquarium. My tank houses three Columbian Sharks, two Banded Leporinus catfish, one Iridescent Shark, one False Tigrinus (rare) catfish, one beautiful Jack Dempsey cichlid, one Hypostomus Plecostomus, one Freshwater Flounder and a shy Freshwater Marble Mooray Eel. This tank is actually brackish and these fish are ultimately going into a 220 gallon aquarium.

  1. That biggest fish …
That biggest fish looks like it will soon be able to eat some of the smaller fishes. You better feed them small sharks some steak and eggs to fatten them up, or the Big Mouth will swallow his .

    I can see you’re …
I can see you’re very knowledgable on the topic of large fish. I just purchased a 40 gallon breeder. I was wondering if you would know what fish(preferably sharks, catfish, eels, and oscars) but I’m still not sure what would go good together in this tank. Also, the quantity of each specific fish would be appreciated. Thanks man.

I run salt through all of my tanks, I have never had any issues? Why would aquarium salt be bad for plecos.

  14. Little123Fizz says:

    Lol, fair enough …
Lol, fair enough well, the Columbian Sharks need brackish water in their adult lives or else they will delevop skin problems. As juvies they are ok in fresh water though… They look like they are past the juvie stage.

  15. there is such thing …
there is such thing as a freshwater eel. contrary to the popular belief, it is actually brackish water eel.

  16. lilbluependragon says:

Thanks for the explanation though, I didn’t know they didn’t like salt, but I’ll look into it.

  17. lilbluependragon says:

I use half of what …
I use half of what I should because I am working on changing the tank back to freshwater because all of my brackish fish either died or were given away (those 3 year old mollies had to had someday lol).

  18. What is the shark …
What is the shark looking fish in the begining at the bottom.

  19. There is no suck …
There is no suck thing as a freshwater moray eel. They live in brackish water and the ocean. They prefer salt water.

  20. Little123Fizz says:

    Not all fish …
Not all fish appreciate salt. Plecos being one of them. Plecos, like corys and loaches are scaleless fish, therefore they are way more sensitive. Even when using meds its always a good idea to use half the dosage, because you can easily kill a pleco with it.

I suppose a little salt wouldn’t hurt but make sure you dissolve it in a cup before you add it to the tank or it can even burn your plecos skin.

    I don’t mean to be …
I don’t mean to be rude in any way, shape, or form. But….. Your 56 Gallon is not big enough for those fish. Sure if you had a Pleco, 1 Jack Dempsey and the Silver TIp Sharks you would be fine. But 2 Jacks, a Leporinus, 3 ST Sharks, and an Irridescent may be a little too much. Along with what looks like a porthole catfish. I also hope that you use salt with your tank considering the Shark Catfish you have are brackish. Just a heads up.
